NJ.com singles out the Bayonne Public Advocate
NJ.com is starting to feel the heat. Earlier this last week members of this board (Becket and OhHonesty) sent a certified letter to George Arwady, the publisher of the Star Ledger This is what they recieved back:
Thank you for your Jan. 17 letter to George Arwady, the Publisher of the Star Ledger, which was relayed to me.
May I refer you to the NJ.com User Agreement, which is available on the site at http//www nj.com/useragreement. Under the Agreement, NJ.Com has the right “to review, edit, move or delete any material provided for display or placed on the website or its bulletin boards, in its sole discretion, withoit notice.” As a matter of policy, we neither discuss nor explain such decisions beyond the messages you have already received.
I appreciate your interest in the Star Ledger and NJ.com

But the story of censorship does not end there. NJ.com has a word censor in place on it’s forum. This makes good sense, one should be careful about what is allowed to be said in terms of foul language. But one has to question NJ.com’s latest addition to it’s foul language list. I would invite the reader to type the words “BayonnePublicAdvocate” into a post, and attempt to publish it on nj.com. The result?
OOPS! Your post was rejected because it contained inappropriate language.
NJ.com should be ashamed at its attempts to silence political expression. Shame on the editors of the various member papers whom some of our members have contacted for failing to see this and respond. It may not be illegal, but it is certainly immoral.
